Patrick Dovigi

Patrick Dovigi is a Toronto-based businessman and entrepreneur who is the founder and owner of Green For Life Environmental Inc. (GFL), a comprehensive, all-inclusive environmental services company.   Patrick Dovigi was raised in Sault Ste. Marie, a small city in northern Ontario. At a young age, he showed a propensity for hockey goal-tending and excelled under the support of his family. In 1997, Patrick achieved the dreams of many Canadians when he was drafted to the NHL as an Edmonton Oilers goaltender.    Before founding GFL, Patrick served as President for a Canadian environmental services firm. While working there, he developed relationships with a number of professionals in the environmental services industry and began thinking about the changing demands in that sector.    Patrick studied business management at Ryerson University in downtown Toronto.   In 2007, Patrick founded GFL with the goal in mind of introducing greater sustainability to the environmental services sector. By purchasing smaller companies that specialize in specific environmental service areas, Patrick has been able to efficiently grow GFL’s reach into many industry sectors.   GFL is a one-stop-shop environmental services company that provides a wide range of environmental solutions in all Canadian provinces except Prince Edward Island. The company provides residential solid waste services and also offers commercial and institutional solutions in the areas of industrial waste, site excavation, and soil remediation.   GFL has been recognized as one of Canada’s fastest growing environmental services companies, employing approximately 2,700 employees.   Patrick also serves as a director on Ontario Waste Management Association's (OWMA) board.
